Frequently asked questions
Do I need a doctor’s prescription to have lab tests done?
A prescription is ideal, but self requests are welcome as long as you know which tests you need. If you are unsure, bring your doctor’s form or call us and we will help.
What does 12 hours fasting mean?
Do not eat or drink anything except water for 12 hours before your test. You may take any medication you need. Fasting keeps food from affecting results for tests such as cholesterol, triglycerides and glucose, so book fasting tests for the morning.
How long before my results are ready?
Most tests are completed in about 4 hours. Pap smears, biopsies and cultures take longer because the work is manual, and specialty tests sent to our partner laboratories overseas take longer again.
How long will an X-ray take?
Registration, payment, the examination and collecting your images usually take 15 to 30 minutes. When a radiologist’s report is needed, the images and report are usually ready within 24 hours.
Will I get my X-ray on film?
Our radiology department is fully digital. Your images can be printed on laser film, saved to a disc, or sent to you by email.
Do all branches offer the same services?
Every branch offers laboratory testing. X-ray and ultrasound availability varies by branch, so please call the branch before you visit for imaging.
Can someone help me understand my results?
Yes. Doctors on our staff are available to talk you through your results.
Do I need an appointment?
Walk-ins are welcome during opening hours. Booking online means your registration is prepared before you arrive, you know the price in advance, and fasting tests are scheduled for the morning.
